“Solar Energy System Disclosure Document” Now Required for All Solar Financing

Effective July 1, 2019

Before consumers sign a solar financing contract (PPA, lease, or purchase), they must be provided a state-mandated “Solar Energy System Disclosure Document”  to read and sign.

The simple, one-page “Solar Energy System Disclosure Document” clearly states the Total Cost for the solar energy system, including all financing costs.

The document also shows how to check the license status of the contractor before you sign anything.

Lastly, the required “Solar Energy System Disclosure Document”  informs every buyer that they have a Three-Day Right to Cancel.

There is an additional disclosure if you’re using a PACE loan to finance a solar energy system.

The current drafts of the “Solar Energy System Disclosure Document” are available here in English and in Spanish.
